The benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) rose 0.88% or 28.87 points to end at 3,300.71 on Thursday, its highest level in nearly a year. Here are some stocks that could move the market this Friday morning:
Singapore Airlines and US carrier JetBlue Airways are seeking to launch codeshare operations which would put the SQ code on JetBlue-operated flights out of New York to 16 US destinations. These include Austin, Boston, Chicago, Orlando, New Orleans and Washington DC. In return, JetBlue will tag its B6 designator code on five daily SIA flights to and from US destinations such as Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.
All Singapore-incorporated companies listed on the Singapore Exchange will have to apply a new financial-reporting framework identical to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in 2018.
Singapore-listed electrical and furniture retailer Courts Asia posted a 32% drop in net profit for the 12 months ended March as margins shrank and finance and administrative costs increased. Courts earned $28.3 million in fiscal year 2013/14, down from $41.4 million in the previous fiscal year, it said in a statement on Thursday. This was despite a 4.6% rise in revenue to $830.3 million.
